pleasant setting in the middle of a town

Pecinan, Malang | 2019

Metropolis, cities, towns — with their buildings, decrepit houses, reckless transportation, people and their activities — always have a strange attraction to me.

I was amused to discover one of several exceptional aisles at Pecinan. This particular town side caught my eye since it has a weirdly well-structured arrangement of a lane.

It seemed like an unwritten rule said, “Cars and trucks should be on the left side. Motorcycles and the street vendors could just be on the right.” And, anyone seemed to agree or even enjoy this composition. Then the middle of the aisle was clear, perfect for the pedestrians.

I was also evoked by the fact that there was no litter at all, while on the other surrounding road, I could still find some trash being dropped or fleed with the low wind—a wake-up call for us to keep our environment just like this underrated edge of a town.

I am looking forward to strolling around and capturing city corners again!

I take pictures and write a story behind them. Sometimes compose poems (and random narratives), too.
